In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. Summary

This position is responsible for a variety of complex, high level software engineering operations. Uses advanced knowledge of software engineering discipline, processes, and tools to complete and ensure compliance of various project subtasks. Interacts with internal and external customers to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications. Will develop and define engineering processes. Mentors lower-level Engineers. Recognized as a subject matter expert in the field of Software Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs requirements gathering, application & architecture design, implementation, develop, coding, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, and providing support throughout the application development process.
  • Regularly offers solutions to significant technical problems.
  • Applies expertise in software engineering principles, technologies, methods, tools, and processes, to eliminate barriers to successful project completion.
  • Analyzes existing information systems and applications to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection process for new application packages, as needed.
  • Defines development guidelines and standards to be utilized in software development /integration including developing custom integration solutions with major enhancements, interfaces, functions, and features.
  • Generates and may approve software documentation and performs requirements-based verification and validation testing of software to assure all requirements are met.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other equivalent ABET accredited Engineering program.
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

  • Experience with Git, SQL, Hibernate/Entity Framework or similar, REST/GraphQL, Quarkus/Spring Boot or ASP.NET.
  • Experience with frontend development in React or similar.
  • Experience with design thinking, CSS, UI principles and UX philosophies.
  • Experience with server/server management.
  • Experience with managing multiple projects at same time (Project Management).
  • Experience working with & supporting developers (SW 1 & 2) supporting best practices including documentation, communication, & communicating with internal customers.
  • Application of advanced engineering principles and technology related to highly complex technical assignments.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, mentoring, consultative services, and innovative solutions.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
