About the Team


The Marketing team works to showcase our brand through the lens of expertise and love. They work to provide a personalized experience for our consumers backed by best-in-class, data-driven marketing capabilities. The Marketing team focuses across 4 departments including, Omni- Channel Marketing, Creative, Communications, and our Loyalty & CRM team. Everyone brings their own point of view to create a unique experience for the pets and pet parents.

Collaborative Work Environment:
At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). Sr. Specialist, Gift Card & Payment Innovation
At PetSmart, we’re reimagining how pet parents give, receive, and experience value. Our Customer Payment Innovation team sits at the forefront of that evolution — redefining how gift cards and payment solutions show up in-store, online, and across our partner ecosystem. We’re looking for a Sr. Specialist, Gift Card & Payment Innovation to help lead the next phase of growth for our gift card business. This role isn’t just about executing campaigns — it’s about building a category. You will own key growth initiatives, connect gift card strategy to major brand moments, and help shape the future of gifting across physical and digital experiences. Reporting to the Loyalty Manager, Gift Card & Payment Innovation, you’ll operate at the intersection of marketing, loyalty, payments, retail operations, and customer experience — driving measurable impact across the business.
What You’ll Own and Drive: Grow the Gift Card Business
  • Own and execute initiatives that drive gift card sales, profitability, and promotional lift across channels
  • Identify new opportunities to expand reach, improve conversion, and increase customer engagement
  • Bring forward ideas that push beyond traditional gifting and into emerging payment and wallet experiences
Lead High-Impact Marketing Moments
  • Develop and activate gift card campaigns aligned with key PetSmart brand events (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Holiday, etc.)
  • Ensure gift cards are strategically embedded into major marketing moments — not treated as an afterthought
  • Partner with Brand, CRM, Loyalty, and Digital to deliver cohesive, omnichannel experiences across email, app, web, and in-store
Own the Promotional & Innovation Roadmap
  • Help shape and evolve the annual gift card calendar, identifying whitespace opportunities and incremental growth levers
  • Support go-to-market strategy for new gift card products, features, and partner initiatives
  • Explore emerging trends in digital gifting, AI-driven experiences, alternative payments, and wallet integrations
Drive Performance & Insights
  • Build and own weekly and monthly reporting across sales, ROI, promotional performance, and channel trends
  • Translate data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Monitor competitive landscape and industry trends to inform future strategy
Be the Cross-Functional Connector
  • Partner with Store Operations, Finance, Technology, Marketing, and external vendors to ensure flawless execution
  • Proactively identify risks, remove roadblocks, and drive initiatives from concept through launch
  • Operate as a business owner — accountable for outcomes, not just deliverables
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, loyalty, payments, gift cards, eCommerce, or related business strategy
  • Strong ownership mindset – you take initiative and drive work forward independently
  • Comfort managing multiple work streams in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional environment
  • Experience working with external vendors or partners
  • Ability to connect performance data to business decisions
  • Genuine curiosity about how the payments and gifting landscape is evolving (digital wallets, AI, alternative payment models, emerging retail trends)
  • A builder mentality – you’re excited by the opportunity to shape and grow something
