Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer / Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support the Waimea Ground program.
This position will be at our site in Redondo Beach, CA. This position requires being on-site and does not support remote or hybrid work.
This position is contingent upon the verification and transfer of current/active DoD security clearance and program access as required for business needs
The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. Perform hands-on development and actively contribute to the code base including peer review of code.
Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree, or 0 years with a PhD. 4 additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Senior Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; 6 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree, or 3 years with a PhD. 4 additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
