Forney, LP, a privately held, middle-market supplier of materials testing equipment, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This role is based just off I79, north of Cranberry Township, PA.
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, and ensuring the integrity of our accounting systems. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and involves a focus on accounts receivable, with a mix of accounts payable, general ledger, and reporting responsibilities, along with opportunities to grow and take on more complex accounting functions over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record incoming payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments, to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements to maintain accurate financial data.
- Manage accounts receivable aging reports to ensure timely collections, reaching out directly to customers on overdue payments.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service departments to personally address customer inquiries related to billing and/or order fulfillment.
- Analyze account discrepancies and resolve billing issues promptly.
- Maintain customer sales tax exemption forms and process sales tax returns.
- Provide recommendations to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase efficiency.
- Assist with subscription billing and deferred revenue
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (required).
- 1-2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or inventory-driven environment.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
