Staff Accountant

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday – Friday, daytime shift

Compensation: Hourly Pay. Opportunity to be converted to a salaried employee after 90-day probation period.

Location: Fayetteville, NC – Onsite only. (No Hybrid or WFH)

Position Purpose:

Parks Building Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position supports two entities within Parks Building Solutions: Parks Building Supply and Park Interiors. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the financial health of our company. Duties and Responsibilities

General Accounting & Reporting:

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Assist with the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and financial reports.

Reconciliations:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.

Month-End Close:

  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and prepaid expenses.

Compliance and Auditing:

  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Sales Tax for both entities

ITIN W/H

Accounts Payable/Receivable backup

Invoicing/Close Contracts for PI backup

Assist the Controller with different tasks given

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations, particularly sales and use tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERP systems).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Aptitude for learning new software and adapting to changing technologies.

Education, Qualifications, Licensing Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business/finance/accounting preferred.

2+ years of related experience.

Relevant experience considered in lieu of formal education.

Know of fundamental accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.

Possess good communication verbally and email.

Organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently.

Familiar with Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions

Typical office environment with extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Regular full-time work hours, with occasional extended hours during peak periods such as month-end and year-end closings, audits, and budgeting cycles. Hybrid work environment options may be available, combining on-site and remote work as needed.

Physical requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform long hours of work on a computer. Occasional lifting of office supplies or documents weighing up to 20 pounds. Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, or training sessions as required. Effective communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
