Staff Accountant

Anchor Innovation, Inc. is seeking a government contracting experienced Controller to assist with the day-to-day operations of our rapidly growing Defense Services company in Virginia Beach, VA. Anchor is a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business focused on providing diversified technical services specializing in consulting, management, maintenance, logistics, training and operations support to the Department of Defense. Our company currently supports contract operations and employees based in California, Florida, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Virginia.

New hire must be an organized, professional and self-motivated individual who will be responsible for providing business operations and administrative support to leadership and manage staff in support of our team. To be successful in this position you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be team-oriented, detail-oriented, be able to prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision. We are looking for someone who is ready to make an impact with our team.

Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. This role plays a key part in supporting month-end close, compliance, and overall financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare financial statements and reports
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
  • Assist with audits and tax filings
  • Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience (public or industry)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred (not required)
