Staff Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of accounting transactions for the credit union as well as member related payments and other transactions. Maintains financial records by posting and updating general ledger as well as subsidiary accounts. Performs account reconciliations. Provides a variety of support duties related to the Accounting Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepare and enter daily and monthly general ledger transactions.

· Analyze and reconcile general ledger for various accounts assigned.

· Prepare summary journal vouchers and verify that all other journal vouchers have been properly balanced and authorized.

· Review and examine financial data. Generate a variety of reports and statements as requested by management. Prepare financial statements and reports on a regular basis.

· Prepare the credit union’s tax returns.

· Research and adjust open items and variances.

· Set-up and run all prepaid and fixed asset items.

· Help ensure compliance with internal controls and assist with audits as needed.

· On a self-directed basis continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs.

· Participates in all scheduled department meetings, training, Volunteer Day, and department/branch functions.

· Continually strives to gain increased knowledge of our products, services, core operating systems, policies, procedures, philosophy, and organizational structure.

· Performs other job related duties as assigned by the CFO.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·Associate degree in Accounting, or other related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting.

· Minimum of 1 year of previous banking and/or credit union experience.

· Strong and professional communication skills (oral and written).

· Strong organizations skills.

· Strong PC skills.

· Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.

· Excellent member/customer service skills.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
