Staff Accountant – Restaurant GroupPosition Summary
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a multi-unit restaurant group. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, with a strong focus on payroll, tip management, inventory, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & Tip Management- Process and review payroll for multiple restaurant locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Manage and reconcile tip distribution (“tip bundles”), ensuring proper allocation and reporting
- Partner with operations and HR to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
Month-End Close- Support and execute the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules
- Ensure all deadlines are met and financials are accurate and complete
Account Reconciliations & Accruals- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances in a timely manner
- Record and monitor accruals, ensuring expenses are recognized in the appropriate period
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
Inventory & Cost Controls- Perform inventory reconciliations across multiple locations
- Partner closely with restaurant management to investigate variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work closely with restaurant management teams to ensure accurate reporting and operational alignment
- Assist with process improvements and system implementations related to accounting and payroll

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (hospitality or restaurant industry preferred)
- Experience with payroll processing and multi-location environments is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (R365, Toast)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
