Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and systems-savvy Staff Accountant to support accounting operations and drive consistency across our location of marine parts & service businesses. This role will be responsible for monthly accounting functions within our accounting system, Lightspeed DMS, while also helping onboard and train new locations and employees onto our systems.

This is an ideal role for someone with accounting experience who enjoys both accounting and process implementation, and who can bridge the gap between operations and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks within Lightspeed DMS
• Reconcile transactions, including parts, service, and customer accounts
• Assist with month-end close processes across multiple locations
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and data integrity within the system
• Coordinate with management and external accountants as needed

Systems & Integration

• Lead and support onboarding of new marina locations into Lightspeed DMS
• Standardize accounting workflows, processes, and reporting across locations
• Troubleshoot system issues and recommend improvements
• Assist in integrating Lightspeed with other accounting or operational tools

Training & Support

• Train staff at new and existing locations on Lightspeed best practices
• Develop documentation and SOPs for accounting and system usage
• Provide ongoing support to location managers and staff

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (multi-entity experience preferred)
• Experience with Lightspeed DMS
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals (reconciliations, month-end close, etc.)
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working across multiple locations and teams
• Strong communication and people skills

Location & Travel Requirements

• Must be based in Maryland or Virginia OR willing to travel to the region a few days per month, as needed
• Travel will primarily be to marina locations for onboarding and training

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
