Job Duties:

Utilize modern process control theory to design and configure systems on new and existing processes
Assist project engineers and managers in the planning, development, and implementation of capital projects
Engage in development of short and long-term planning of system upgrades and migrations
During project design, assists with coordinating the development of control logic and system configuration between the Operating Department and control system suppliers. Participate in
factory checkout of equipment prior to delivery to confirm design and functionality
Assist with the development of operator training manuals and assists with control system operator training
Generate procedures used by Maintenance, Operations, and peers
Work closely with Operations and Engineering personnel to develop job scopes. Write functional specifications for vendor use in quotations
- customer focused innovations, cost saving improvements, process optimization, etc.
Utilize a proactive approach and project skills to develop solutions to short-term and long-term issues
Design and implement control system logic based on process knowledge, applicable safety and environmental requirements, operational need, and maintenance requirements that
provide clearly defined benefits
Utilize automation experience to improve and optimize the world class paper machine process so as to keep this facility as the leaders in the group for this product
Work closely with Maintenance and Operations to identify and resolve issues
Lead troubleshooting efforts of automation and instrumentation systems and processes.
Promote technical skills in E\I technicians
As part of the Process Control team, shares in the responsibility of providing weekend and off-hour availability to support Process Control mill needs as well as startup support from
planned and unplanned shutdowns
Adhere to all mill safety rules, participate in or may lead safety programs and meetings with the goal of improving safety at the mill. Supports the mill behavior-based safety program
Evaluate, troubleshoot, and maintains system hardware

Requirements:

Employer will accept a bachelor’s degree in engineering, pulp and paper technology or related field or foreign equivalent and 10 years of experience in industrial and process control or in the job offered. Position requires experience in the following:

Experience in instrumentation, control devices, and motor controls
Experience troubleshooting for evaluating root cause and addressing technical issues with long term solutions
Experience in Paper Machine MCS/DCS/QCS automation and controls with skills in programming, diagnostics, troubleshooting repair and tuning of control loops this system utilizes.
Experience on system infrastructure for smart MCC’s that interfaces with the DCS
Experience with DCS systems that utilize block builder tools and HTML user interface
Experience with systems that are based on VMWare to operate the computing platform required
Experience with systems that utilize Ethernet networks including switches, routers and VLANs and Operational technology that is used by the automation system to control the process.
Experience with Industrial Communication Protocols including RS-485 and Ethernet IP base.
Experience with control loop tuning and performance evaluation tools
Experience in driving large scale control system projects from concept to commissioning
