Summary:
The Staff Nurse in the Gynaecology department provides nursing care to women across OPD, wards, labour room, and post-operative care areas. The role supports doctors, ensures patient comfort, monitors maternal health, and follows all clinical and safety protocols.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients in the gynaecology ward, labour room, and OPD as assigned.
- Assist doctors during examinations, procedures, deliveries, and minor OT cases.
- Monitor vital signs, fetal heart rate, contractions, and maternal condition regularly.
- Prepare patients for labour, surgeries, and other gynaecological procedures.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care for LSCS, hysterectomy, D&C, and related cases.
- Ensure proper medication administration, IV management, injections, and documentation.
- Maintain records as per hospital and NABH guidelines.
- Provide breastfeeding counselling, postpartum care, and hygiene education to patients.
- Handle emergencies such as bleeding, eclampsia, fetal distress, and coordinate immediate support.
- Maintain sterilization of instruments, equipment, and ensure infection-control practices.
- Coordinate with doctors, anaesthetists, and other departments for smooth patient care.
Qualifications Required:
- GNM / B.Sc Nursing / M.Sc Nursing.
- Valid nursing registration.
- Experience in gynaecology, labour room, or maternity ward preferred.
Skills Needed:
- Strong understanding of obstetric and gynaecological nursing care.
- Ability to handle labour room duties and emergencies.
- Good communication and patient-handling skills.
- Knowledge of infection control, medication administration, and documentation.
- Compassionate, patient-centred approach with teamwork skills.
