Role Overview
The Staff Nurse plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing neurological rehabilitation. The role focuses on supporting recovery, promoting independence, preventing complications, and ensuring patient dignity throughout the rehabilitation journey..
Clinical Care
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and neuromuscular disorders
- Monitor vital signs, neurological status, bowel & bladder care, skin integrity, and nutrition
- Administer medications safely and accurately as per physician’s orders
- Perform wound care, pressure sore prevention, catheter care, and infection control practices
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) while encouraging independence
Rehabilitation Support
- Work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists to support individualized rehab goals
- Assist patients during therapy sessions as required
- Educate patients and caregivers on mobility, positioning, self-care, and home-based rehabilitation
Patient & Family Education
- Provide counselling and emotional support to patients and caregivers
- Educate families on disease condition, care plans, medication compliance, and prevention of complications
- Support caregiver training prior to patient discharge
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate nursing records, care plans, and progress notes
- Follow hospital protocols, NABH / quality standards, and ethical nursing practices
- Report changes in patient condition promptly to the medical team
Teamwork & Professional Conduct
- Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and team meetings
- Uphold patient dignity, confidentiality, and compassionate care at all times
- Support a positive, patient-centric rehabilitation environment
Qualifications & Experience
- GNM / B.Sc Nursing (mandatory)
- Valid Nursing Council Registration
- Minimum 1 year experience preferred (experience in neuro rehab, critical care, or medical-surgical nursing is an advantage)
- Freshers with strong interest in rehabilitation nursing may be considered
