Steel fixer

Job Title: Steel Fixer (5-Year UAE Experience)

A Steel Fixer is responsible for cutting, bending, placing, and securing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh used in reinforced concrete structures. The role ensures that steel reinforcement is installed accurately according to approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural drawings and bar bending schedules (BBS).
• Cut, bend, and shape steel bars using hand tools or machines.
• Fix reinforcement steel bars, mesh, and links in foundations, slabs, columns, beams, and walls.
• Secure steel bars using wire, clips, or welding as specified.
• Ensure correct spacing, cover, and alignment of reinforcement.
• Install spacers, chairs, and supports to maintain the required concrete cover.
• Inspect steel work before concrete pouring and report any discrepancies.
• Follow project quality standards and site safety regulations.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades on site.
• Maintain tools and ensure proper housekeeping in the work area.

Requirements & Skills

• Proven experience as a Steel Fixer in construction projects.
• Ability to read construction drawings and BBS.
• Knowledge of reinforcement standards and site safety practices.
• Physically fit and able to work in challenging site conditions.
• Team-oriented with good communication skills.
