STEM Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in delivering engaging STEM lessons aligned with curriculum standards
  • Support students during hands-on experiments, projects, and activities to ensure safety and understanding
  • Help develop innovative lesson plans that incorporate literacy, math, and critical thinking skills within STEM contexts
  • Manage classroom behavior to create a positive, inclusive learning environment conducive to exploration and discovery
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism or disabilities
  • Maintain organized classroom materials, tools, and resources for efficient lesson delivery
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support student progress and classroom management

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings; preschool or daycare experience is highly valued
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles, childhood development, and behavior management strategies
  • Strong understanding of STEM subjects such as science, technology, engineering, and math; familiarity with curriculum development is a plus
  • Experience in lesson planning and literacy education to support comprehensive student growth
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs or disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and students effectively
  • Classroom management skills to maintain a safe and productive learning environment
  • Relevant certifications or training in special education, Montessori methods, or preschool education are advantageous
