job Summary

The Storekeeper is responsible for the efficient and organized management of all inventory within the Alsharqi Shipping Workshop stores, including spare parts, tools, equipment, and consumables. This role ensures accurate record-keeping, safe storage, and timely issuance of materials to support maintenance and repair operations, minimizing operational downtime.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory Management and Control

· Maintain accurate inventory records using the designated inventory management system (IMS) or ledger.

· Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical stocktakes to reconcile physical inventory with system records, investigating and reporting any discrepancies immediately.

· Implement and maintain a logical layout for the store, ensuring all items are clearly labeled, stored safely, and easily accessible (First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle where applicable).

2. Receiving and Inspection

· Receive, unload, and unpack all incoming materials, goods, and shipments from vendors or suppliers.

· Inspect deliveries against purchase orders (POs) for quality, quantity, and damage, documenting any anomalies.

· Process all necessary documentation (Goods Receipt Notes, inspection reports) to officially accept materials into stock.

3. Issuance and Distribution

· Issue tools, parts, and consumables to workshop technicians and authorized personnel based on approved requisitions or work orders.

· Ensure all issued materials are accurately recorded in the inventory system, tracking material usage against specific jobs or equipment.

· Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the Procurement/Workshop Manager to initiate reorder requests for minimum stock items to prevent shortages.

4. Safety and Maintenance

· Maintain the workshop stores in a clean, tidy, and highly organized state, adhering strictly to company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.

· Ensure the secure storage of valuable or hazardous materials in compliance with regulatory standards.

· Oversee the maintenance and calibration schedule for workshop tools and equipment stored in the inventory, reporting needs for repair or replacement.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent is required; a qualification in supply chain, inventory management, or logistics is preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Storekeeper, preferably in a technical, shipping, maritime, or heavy machinery workshop environment.

· Proficiency in inventory control software (IMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED2,500.00 per month
