Job Title: Storekeeper – Construction Site
Department: Site Operations / Stores
Reporting To: Site Engineer / Project Manager / Purchase Department
Job Purpose:
To manage, control, and record all materials and consumables received, stored, and issued at the construction site in an organized and accountable manner, ensuring zero material wastage and accurate stock maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:1. Material Receiving & Verification
- Receive materials from suppliers as per delivery challans and purchase orders.
- Check quantity, quality, and specifications against the purchase order and delivery note.
- Report any damages, shortages, or non-conformance to the Project Manager / Purchase Department immediately.
- Ensure proper documentation for all receipts.
2. Storage & Handling
- Arrange materials systematically in designated storage areas for easy identification and retrieval.
- Ensure safety and proper handling of construction materials such as cement, steel, electrical fittings, plumbing materials, etc.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security in the store area.
3. Issue & Record Maintenance
- Issue materials to site engineers, foremen, or contractors against properly authorized requisitions.
- Maintain accurate records of material issues and balances (daily stock register).
- Update stock entries in the register or ERP/software system (if applicable).
4. Inventory Management
- Conduct periodic physical verification of stock.
- Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels to avoid material shortage or excess.
- Coordinate with the purchase department for timely replenishment of critical items.
- Prepare monthly stock reports and consumption summaries.
5. Documentation & Reports
- Maintain all store records: GRN (Goods Receipt Note), Issue Slips, Return Notes, and Stock Registers.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly material consumption reports.
- Assist in internal and external audits of materials.
6. Coordination
- Coordinate with the procurement and accounts departments for invoice matching and payment approvals.
- Liaise with site engineers to forecast material requirements.
- Support logistics for material movement between sites if required.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of construction materials (civil, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Good inventory control and record-keeping skills
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Excel / ERP / SAP / Tally preferred)
- Attention to detail and accountability
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Ability to handle pressure and work at project sites
Qualification & Experience:
- Qualification: Diploma / ITI / Any Graduate
- Experience: 2–5 years in storekeeping at a construction or infrastructure project site
Work Location: Project Site (as per company requirement)
Working Hours: As per site operational schedule
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
