The Strategic Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services to support global manufacturing operations. This role ensures a stable and cost-effective supply chain across regions while maintaining quality, delivery, and compliance standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the procurement of raw materials, components, and services to support production schedules and business goals.

Develops, evaluates, and maintains strategic relationships with global suppliers, including partners in China, Europe, and North America.

Negotiates complex contracts to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and delivery outcomes.

Analyzes market trends, currency impacts, and supply chain risks to inform sourcing strategies.

Utilizes advanced analytical tools and Excel modeling to forecast demand, track costs, and assess supplier performance.

Collaborates with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material alignment with specifications and manufacturing requirements.

Supports SAP S/4HANA procurement activities; experience with S/4HANA or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.

Identifies cost savings, process improvements, and supply chain efficiencies.

Prepares and presents reports on procurement performance, forecasts, and supplier metrics.

May act on behalf of the Purchasing Manager or Director of Supply Chain as authorized.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required
in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience
in manufacturing procurement or strategic sourcing.

Demonstrated experience in
global purchasing
, including supplier management in
China and Europe
.

Experience working within ERP systems and managing supplier performance metrics.

Strong negotiation and relationship management skills across international suppliers.

Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with expert-level Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling).
