Strategic Procurement Specialist

Strategic Procurement Specialist

Own Cost. Protect Margin. Secure Supply.

Overview: MachMotion is seeking a Procurement professional to own the supply chain that drives our production output. Your performance directly impacts on-time delivery, margin, and product innovation.

This role is responsible for selecting and managing suppliers to achieve the best total value across cost, quality, delivery, availability, reliability, and support, ensuring production and customer commitments are met.

The procurement specialist will meet with salespersons and negotiate contracts and prices, while ensuring inventory levels are optimized, on a global basis. She/he must make high level analysis decisions, with creative strategic thinking in concert with the development department to assist in developing new products. This individual works directly with Engineering Manager.

What Success Looks Like

  • Year-over-year cost reductions through strategic negotiation and sourcing initiatives
  • Reduced supplier risk and improved supply continuity
  • Improved on-time supplier performance
  • Optimized inventory without production disruption
  • Accurate landed cost modeling for domestic and international sourcing

Responsibilities:

  • Source and procure all required materials and subcontracted services; qualify new suppliers and develop alternative sources to reduce risk and ensure supply continuity.
  • Evaluate suppliers on total value (cost, quality, delivery, capability, reliability); lead competitive bidding and cost-reduction initiatives to drive year-over-year savings.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, MOQs, warranties, and terms; establish and manage supplier agreements and performance expectations.
  • Administer supplier contracts, conduct performance reviews, and maintain strong vendor relationships to improve cost, quality, delivery, and cash flow.
  • Create and manage accurate purchase orders in ERP (Odoo or similar); monitor confirmations, shipments, and backorders to align with production priorities.
  • Verify invoice accuracy and coordinate payment approvals; maintain organized purchasing documentation and reporting.
  • Manage international sourcing, freight, and logistics partners; calculate total landed cost and ensure compliance with global trade regulations, Incoterms, and import/export requirements.

Profile of the Right Candidate

  • Financially minded — understands how procurement impacts gross margin
  • Comfortable making high-level sourcing decisions under pressure
  • Data-driven but decisive
  • Proactive in solving supply risks before they become production issues
  • Confident negotiating with domestic and international suppliers
  • High ownership mentality

Education and Experience:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain. Alternatively, 2 to 5 years of on-the-job experience in a strong singularly focused procurement position may be equivalent for the education requirement.

· Experience: 2-5 years in purchasing/procurement/sourcing in a manufacturing, industrial, automation, or electronics/electromechanical environment.

· Technical knowledge: Working understanding of manufacturing supply requirements and component decision drivers (lead times, substitutions/alternates, supplier constraints, and incoming quality risks).

· Systems: Experience using an ERP or purchasing system to create/manage POs and maintain accurate purchasing records; comfort with data analysis and reporting for supplier and spend performance.

Compensation: Negotiable, yet salary considerations will be based on experience of the individual applicant. Projected at $40,000 to $65,000 per year.
