Position Overview

The Structural Draftsman supports the Structural Engineering team by producing accurate structural drawings, details, and models in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes/standards, and client/authority submission needs. The role requires strong drafting skills, attention to detail, and effective coordination with engineers, BIM teams, and other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural general arrangement drawings, sections, and details for reinforced concrete and steel structures (as applicable).
• Develop structural drawings for authority and client submissions, ensuring compliance with relevant UAE requirements and project standards.
• Produce bar bending schedules (BBS), reinforcement detailing, and typical detail libraries in line with engineer instructions.
• Coordinate with Structural Engineers to interpret design intent, resolve drafting queries, and incorporate review comments promptly.
• Coordinate with Architectural and MEP teams to ensure drawings are clash-aware and coordinated across disciplines.
• Prepare and update drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit (Structure) following company CAD/BIM standards and naming conventions.
• Support BIM deliverables where required, including model coordination, drawing extraction, and documentation aligned with ISO 19650 workflows (advantage).
• Maintain revision control, drawing registers, and proper filing of issued drawings and related documentation.
• Assist in preparing shop drawing reviews, as-built drawings, and handover documentation when required.
• Participate in internal QA/QC checks to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and consistency before issue.
• Communicate effectively with project teams to meet deadlines and support timely deliverables.

Requirements

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Civil/Structural Engineering Drafting or a related field (Bachelor's degree is an advantage).
• 3-7 years of experience as a Structural Draftsman, preferably within engineering consultancy and UAE projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); Revit Structure/BIM experience is a strong advantage.
• Strong knowledge of structural detailing practices for reinforced concrete and steel structures, including BBS and typical detailing standards.
• Familiarity with common international design/drafting references (e.g., BS/ACI) and project-specific standards.
• Ability to coordinate drawings with other disciplines and work under engineer direction with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
