Job Description: Principal Structural Steel Engineer

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Department: Engineering / Technical Office

Reports to: Engineering Manager / Technical Manager

Role Purpose

The Principal Structural Steel Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and technical vetting of complex steel structures. With a focus on safety, cost-efficiency, and compliance with the Saudi Building Code (SBC), the incumbent will oversee the full project lifecycle from conceptual design to fabrication-ready drawings, ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Advanced Design & Analysis: Lead the design of industrial, commercial, and high-rise steel structures using software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or Tekla Structures.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs strictly adhere to the Saudi Building Code (SBC), AISC, Eurocodes, and specific Aramco or Royal Commission standards where applicable.
• Technical Oversight: Review and approve shop drawings, connection designs, and calculation reports to ensure structural integrity and "constructability."
• Value Engineering: Optimize steel designs to reduce material waste and fabrication costs without compromising safety or quality.
• Project Leadership: Act as the technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and fabrication yards, resolving complex engineering bottlenecks on-site or in the shop.
• Mentorship: Guide and develop junior and senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical precision and continuous learning.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a reputed and accredited university. (Master's preferred).

Experience

Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in structural steel design.

KSA Experience

Mandatory experience working within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a deep understanding of local environmental factors (seismic, wind, and corrosion).

Professional Membership

Valid membership with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) at a "Consultant" or "Senior" rank.

Technical Skills

Mastery of 3D modeling/analysis software and a strong grasp of connection design (bolted/welded).

Competencies & Skills

• Analytical Thinking: Ability to solve complex structural puzzles and anticipate potential failure points.
• Communication: Fluent in English (Arabic is a significant plus) with the ability to present technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
• Integrity: Unwavering commitment to safety standards and ethical engineering practices.
• Project Management: Proven ability to meet tight deadlines in the fast-paced KSA construction environment.

Pay: ﷼8,000.00 - ﷼10,000.00 per month
