Role Summary
The Senior Material Engineer is responsible for the technical evaluation and selection of suitable project materials, ensuring full compliance with project specifications and Local Authority requirements. The role ensures that all materials meet specification standards and receive approval from consultants and statutory authorities. The position also oversees material testing, documentation, certification, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee all activities related to material testing and certification.

Ensure full compliance of materials with project specifications, international codes, and legal requirements.

Verify that accurate material test certifications and valid documentation are maintained at all times.

Ensure all material submittals comply with project and international specifications.

Review engineering parameters in all material submittals to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of specification requirements for material approval.

Identify compliant materials both locally and internationally.

Establish and maintain a comprehensive library of specification requirements for easy reference.

Coordinate and oversee all onsite material testing activities.

Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with specifications and applicable codes.

Ensure material test certifications are available, accurate, and up to date.

Provide weekly progress reports detailing material status, approvals, and areas of concern or delay.

Review material requirements to identify value engineering (VE) and cost-saving opportunities.

Propose innovative material solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining compliance.

Develop a strong understanding of material properties and benefits to support optimized design decisions.

Prepare and maintain detailed material tracking schedules in accordance with project procedures.

Ensure shop drawings and as-built drawings are accurately prepared and documented.

Close out material submittals and ensure all required documentation is prepared in advance for project completion.

Lead and support teams by facilitating effective coaching and mentoring to enhance technical competencies.

Support the implementation of HSE initiatives and participate in safety awareness programs.

Contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company policies and the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Job Knowledge & Skills
