Structural Steel Foreman

Lead the work. Lead the crew. Hold the standard.

Steel It, LLC is hiring a Structural Steel Foreman to lead field crews and drive safe, organized, high-quality execution. We usually build our foremen from within. This opening is different because we need a proven field leader now.

We are looking for a foreman who can do more than carry the title. This role requires someone who can plan the work, direct the crew, communicate clearly, hold people accountable, and solve problems before they damage schedule, safety, or quality.

This is a working leadership role for someone who understands structural steel erection and knows how to lead from the front without losing control of the job.

We are not just hiring for one large project. We are building long-term crew capacity for consistent work, strong standards, and continued growth.

What you will do

  • Lead field crews in structural steel erection, connection, alignment, rigging, bolt-up, and installation
  • Plan daily and short-range work with superintendent and project leadership
  • Drive crew communication, coordination, and safe execution
  • Read erection drawings and turn plans into field production
  • Manage labor, sequence, equipment use, and daily priorities
  • Identify jobsite issues early and escalate the right problems quickly
  • Hold the standard on safety, productivity, workmanship, and jobsite conduct
  • Support punch completion, closeout, and professional customer-facing execution
  • Help develop crew members and future leaders

What we need from you

  • Foreman-level experience in structural steel erection or related field leadership
  • Strong understanding of erection drawings, field layout, rigging, connections, and installation sequence
  • Ability to lead crews with accountability and control
  • Strong communication with crew, superintendent, project team, and other trades
  • Strong safety discipline and jobsite awareness
  • Reliable attendance, sound judgment, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work in the field under active project conditions
  • Welding knowledge and hands-on field credibility preferred
  • OSHA 10/30, rigging, lift planning, or equipment experience is a plus

Leadership standards for this role

  • Lead safely
  • Communicate clearly
  • Manage work, not react to it
  • Hold crews accountable
  • Protect schedule and quality
  • Solve problems early
  • Represent the company professionally
  • Help build the next layer of leaders

Training and development
Steel It invests in field leadership development. We provide foreman training aligned with our leadership standards and the NCCER foreman framework to strengthen crew leadership, work management, decision-making, communication, and safety culture.

  • Can lead without drama

  • 401(k) with company match
