Structural Welder

Role and Responsibilities

The Welders responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,

  • Understand the safety features of the machines and tooling to ensure they are operating without compromise to safety systems.
  • Follows safety protocol, including wearing heat resistant gloves, flame resistant (FR) clothing, protective masks, and safety toed footwear.
  • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
  • Assesses equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methods.
  • Ability to perform MIG welding activities to steel components.
  • Maintain welding fixtures and tooling in a suitable working order.
  • Visually inspect weld quality and use other quality inspection equipment to confirm compliance to part specifications.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to test and pass welder qualification test
  • Thorough understanding of tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
  • Welding experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge-based and working background in MIG welding of carbon and stainless-steel products
  • Must be able to complete a manual welding test. Welds are judged on functionality and esthetics
  • Must be able to perform accurate mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
  • Ability to work with fractions and decimals.
  • A work history of compliance to safety, quality, and productivity standards
  • A work history that supports a good to excellent attendance record
  • Strong mechanical abilities
  • Fast learner and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented approach to daily work activities
  • Able to work well in a team-oriented work environment
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

  • At least 2 years welding experience and able to perform MIG welding.

  • Able to read blueprints
  • GMAW
  • Metal Fabrication Skills
  • Technical or Trade School Degree (optional)
  • Welding Mathematics
