Key Responsibilities1. Academic and Learning Support
- Assess students with diverse learning needs and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide one-on-one or small-group academic intervention and remediation.
- Collaborate with teachers to modify lesson plans, assessments, and classroom activities to support inclusive education.
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining updated records and reports.
2. Emotional and Behavioural Support
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions to address emotional, social, behavioural, and academic concerns.
- Identify students who may need special assistance through observation, teacher referrals, or self-referral.
- Provide immediate support in crisis situations and help students manage stress, anxiety, peer issues, or personal challenges.
3. Parent and Teacher Collaboration
- Conduct regular meetings with parents to discuss student progress, behavioural issues, and intervention plans.
- Work closely with teachers to create supportive strategies for managing classroom behaviour and improving student engagement.
- Collaborate with external therapists, healthcare professionals, and specialists when required.
4. Awareness & Development Programs
- Organize workshops and sessions on mental health, bullying prevention, life skills, career guidance, and emotional well-being.
- Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment conducive to student growth.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain confidential counselling records, IEPs, and progress reports.
- Ensure adherence to school policies, guidelines, and statutory requirements related to special education and student counselling.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education / Psychology / Counselling (as applicable).
- Strong understanding of learning disabilities, behavioural concerns, and intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication, listening, empathy, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in school settings is preferred.
