The Student Counsellor plays a vital role in supporting student development and helping them achieve their full potential, providing personal, academic, social, and professional support to students and the school community at large
Key Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to ministerial regulations regarding student conduct and discipline, and oversee their implementation.
Support students in identifying and developing their abilities, interests, and positive behaviours to achieve success in all areas.
Study individual student cases, prepare treatment plans, and maintain strict confidentiality.
Track academic performance by recognising outstanding students, supporting struggling students, and addressing the causes of underperformance.
Hold individual meetings with parents of students displaying negative behaviour or difficulty adapting to the school environment.
Organise training sessions and workshops for students and parents focused on character building and behaviour modification.
Review academic evaluation results, classify students by performance, and submit reports to the Guidance Committee for follow-up.
Conduct joint meetings with teachers and parents for students falling behind academically.
Provide career guidance, including introducing students to opportunities at universities, colleges, institutes, and training centres, and coordinate school career day activities.
Promote awareness of healthy practices within the school community.
Organise welcoming programs for new students and guidance programs for all grade levels.
Supervise students during arrival, recess, prayer, and dismissal times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to provide support to students and enhance the learning environment.
Participate in regional guidance and counselling programs.
Communicate regularly with the school agent about behavioural issues, strategies used, and case updates.
Respond promptly to school calls, messages, and online communication regarding students.
Refer health cases to the school doctor, ensure proper follow-up, and notify parents of urgent conditions.
Cover for absent administrative staff as required.
Monitor student appearance, dress code, and behaviour, guiding students as needed.
Manage and maintain guidance files and records.
Contact parents regarding absences, tardiness, and other concerns, sending monthly reports when necessary.
Engage in school activities, supporting the activity supervisor and involving gifted students.
Share important administrative announcements with parents through official channels.
Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of guidance and student support.
