Student Worker - Tutor, Math Success Center

DESCRIPTION

This position provides peer-based academic assistance and does not replace the duties of classified staff or faculty. The Math Tutor provides supplemental academic support to students enrolled in mathematics courses by reinforcing course concepts, problem-solving strategies, and study skills in one-on-one or small-group settings. Tutors support independent learning, maintain appropriate tutoring records, and foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment under the direction of faculty and/or learning support staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a Napa Valley College student
• Successful completion of college-level calculus orstatisticscoursework with a grade of B or higher.
• Recommendation from a mathematics instructor.
• Strong communicationand interpersonal skills.
• Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous tutoring, mentoring, or instructional experience.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Familiarity with online tutoring platforms and educational technology.
