Substitute Teacher

We are looking for substitute teachers who are passionate about working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our schools are located in Bucktown, Logan Square, West Town, Downtown, and Lakeview.

Position Details

• Part-time: 25 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday through Friday (hours may vary based on school needs)
• Hourly Pay: From $16.75+ per hour
• Work Location: We have 5 schools

Qualifications

Per DCFS requirements:

• Must be at least 19 years old
• Must have a high school diploma or GED

Health Requirements (per DCFS and Health Department):

• Physical examination
• TB test
• Proof of MMR vaccines
• T-dap vaccine documentation (form provided upon hiring)

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for children
• Support lead teachers with daily lesson plans and classroom activities
• Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
• Assist in meal preparation, serving, and clean-up
• Help with toilet training, positive discipline, and conflict resolution
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
• Observe and document children’s development using Teaching Strategies
• Participate in 15 hours of training per year (on-site or off-site)
• Must have CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain it

Schedule Flexibility

As a substitute teacher, you may be assigned to different classrooms or locations based on school needs. Your schedule may vary, and availability for different shifts is preferred.
