ReDefiners World Languages is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening literacy, language development, and academic success for children and families in underserved communities. The organization provides educational programs and community-based learning opportunities designed to support students who may face barriers to academic achievement due to limited access to resources. The AmeriCorps VISTA program supports this mission by expanding access to educational and community engagement opportunities for elementary-age students and families from low-income households in the Tampa area. Many of the students served are at risk of experiencing summer learning loss, which can contribute to ongoing academic gaps associated with poverty. Through summer learning programs and community events, this project helps address these challenges by providing no-cost academic enrichment, structured learning environments, and opportunities for family participation in educational activities. These efforts aim to support student learning continuity, strengthen family engagement, and increase access to resources that promote long-term academic success. By supporting these initiatives, AmeriCorps VISTA members contribute to efforts that reduce educational disparities and improve access to opportunities for children and families experiencing economic hardship.
