Summer Camp Counselor

Job Summary
Flagstaff Ranch is seeking energetic, responsible, and creative individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors for the 2026 season. Located in the heart of the Coconino National Forest, our "Summer Camp at the Ranch" program provides a premier summer experience for the children and grandchildren of our members.

As a counselor, you will be the face of fun and safety, leading campers through a variety of outdoor adventures, sports, and creative projects utilizing our world-class facilities, including the Community Center, pool, and surrounding forest trails.

Key Responsibilities

• Camper Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers (ages 4–12) at all times. Maintain a high level of energy and a "safety-first" mindset
• Role Modeling: Serve as a positive influence for campers.
• Facility Care: Assist in the setup and breakdown of camp zones. Ensure the Community Center and outdoor areas remain clean and organized.
• Communication: Maintain professional and friendly interaction with parents/guardians and fellow staff. Provide brief daily updates on camper progress or notable events.

Activity Leadership: Lead and participate in daily activities including:

• Outdoor Recreation: Nature hikes, playground games, and scavenger hunts.
• Sports: Facilitating basic instructions for tennis, pickleball, and basketball.
• Water Activities: Supervising pool time and assisting with water safety in our lap and children’s pools.
• Creative Arts: Organizing themed arts and crafts, music, and team-building challenges.

Qualifications

• Age: 18+
• Experience: Prior experience working with children (coaching, babysitting, or previous camp work) is highly valued.
• Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of the season).
• Stamina: Ability to remain active and on your feet for several hours, often in an outdoor high-altitude environment.
• Availability: Must be available for the duration of the summer season (typically Memorial Day through early August).
