Summer Camp Director & Teacher for Dance Studio

About us

Karl & DiMarco south is a dance studio in Tampa, FL with over 50 years in business. We offer weekly themed summer camps June-July. Our camps include crafts, activities and dance combos. Each week ends with a performance for the parents showcasing the combos they learned throughout the week.

We are looking for a camp director that will begin prepping our program in February and coordinate all aspects of this program through the end of the summer. This position has the possibility of continuing into our Fall season as a Combo teacher if the candidate has training and skills as a dance teacher for ages 3-7, but this is not required for the summer position.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee and facilitate all aspects for our summer camp program for ages 4-8, and manage camp staff.
- Coordinate and facilitate crafts and activities that go with our weekly theme.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and creativity
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment
- Collaborate with other dance instructors and staff to coordinate an end of the week performance

Skills:
- Strong knowledge and experience in teaching young children, dance experience is not mandatory, but beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively teach and interact with students of different ages as well as managing camp staff.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Organizational skills to plan lessons, manage time effectively, and coordinate performances
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students on an individual level
- Creativity and the ability to inspire students' passion for dance
- Knowledge of childhood development principles for effective instruction

Note: Training and experience in pre-school age childcare and behavior management is a must for this position.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
