Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily camp activities, ensuring they are fun, educational, and aligned with safety standards
  • Manage classroom dynamics with effective behavior management techniques to promote respectful interactions and engagement
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to plan age-appropriate lessons that incorporate arts, sports, theater, and other creative outlets
  • Maintain a safe environment by applying first aid when necessary and adhering to health protocols
  • Support children with special needs or behavioral challenges by implementing individualized strategies and accommodations
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and team members to create a welcoming community atmosphere
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior staff or volunteers to uphold high standards of childcare and education

Requirements

  • Proven experience in classroom management, early childhood education, or childcare settings
  • Knowledge of child development principles and behavior management strategies
  • Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Background in working with children with diverse needs, including special education or behavioral support is preferred
  • Strong communication skills for working effectively with children, parents, and team members
  • Ability to lead activities such as sports coaching, theater productions, tutoring sessions or babysitting duties as needed
  • Enthusiasm for working outdoors and engaging children in active play during camp hours
