Summer Counselor - Seasonal

The Orange County rescue Mission is looking to hire a several full time seasonal Summer Counselors to assist Summer to Remember youth summer program for our Village of Hope (VOH) youth resident population ages kindergarten through 8th grade at. This summer youth program runs late May through mid August, Monday-Friday between 8am and 5pm (we are flexible with start & end dates for the right applicant/employees).

This position will work in collaboration with the Parent Child Enrichment Center Manager and the Village of Hope Manager in carrying out the Summer to Remember program. This includes providing assistance to the morning Learning Camp program through Concordia University’s onsite tutoring program, present, facilitate and supervise and teach academic skills and school readiness to children aged preschool through 8th grade. The Summer Counselor will also provide afternoon summer camp assistance to PCE Management staff to carry out afternoon planned activities and coordinated donated services with our community through the Development department. The Summer to Remember program runs from June through August.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A personal relationship with Jesus, member of a Bible believing church and good working knowledge of the Bible, a completed and signed OC Rescue Mission employment application and Statement of Faith.
  • High School Diploma and at least with 3 to 6 months working with youth in education, recreation or daycare setting.
  • The ability to act, think promptly and professionally, follow VOH policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality of the environment and population.
  • Detail oriented, organized, self-motivated and flexible team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Christ-centered behavior at all times by treating all people (students, coworkers, children, volunteers, visitors) with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity at all times while employed with OCRM.
  • Dependable and consistent timely attendance to agreed upon schedule.
  • Clearance for hire through a background check and pre-employment physical.
