Join the Cross Lanes YMCA Summer Day Camp Team and spend your summer making an impact on children’s lives while working in a fun, energetic environment.

We are hiring Lead Counselors and Camp Counselors (Assistants) for Summer 2026.

Camp Dates: June 8 – August 14 (10 weeks)
Mandatory Training: June 3, 4, and 5

POSITIONS & PAY

Lead Counselors
Starting Pay: $15.00/hour
+$1.50/hour with an Associate’s Degree (ECE, Education, or related field)
+$2.50/hour with a Bachelor’s Degree (ECE, Education, or related field)

Responsibilities include planning and implementing weekly lesson plans aligned with WV standards and providing structured, engaging programming.

Camp Counselors (Assistants)
Starting Pay: $13.00/hour
+$1.50/hour with an Associate’s Degree (ECE, Education, or related field)
+$2.50/hour with a Bachelor’s Degree (ECE, Education, or related field)

SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS

Lead Counselors: Full-time seasonal, typically 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Assistants: Part-time shifts

• Morning: 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM
• Evening: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Flexibility is required for field trips and special events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and participate in daily activities (arts & crafts, sports, STEM, water play, field trips)
• Provide active supervision at all times
• Ensure safety, accountability, and proper group management
• Follow all licensing regulations and YMCA policies
• Maintain accurate paperwork (attendance, incident reports, etc.)
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must attend mandatory training (June 3–5)
• Reliable attendance and commitment to the full 10-week season with limited time off
• Must pass all required background checks

Prior experience working with children strongly preferred and a requirement for Lead Counselors.
