Summer Nature Camp Counselor

Join the Natural Resources Trust of Easton (NRT) this summer as a Sheep Pasture Nature Camp (SPNC) Counselor and ignite a passion for the outdoors in young explorers! As a SPNC Counselor, you will lead engaging outdoor activities, foster a love for nature, and create memorable summer experiences for SPNC Campers, ages 7-12, and Leadership Youth, ages 13-15. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your love of nature with your skills in childcare and education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise children during outdoor activities, ensuring safety and engagement at all times
  • Collaboratively plan and facilitate educational nature-based programs, including hikes, wildlife observation, games, and environmental crafts
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, curiosity, and respect among campers and staff
  • Enforce camp expectations and behavior management strategies to promote a safe and respectful atmosphere
  • Assist with daily camp setup, cleanup, and organization of materials for activities
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and emergency personnel when necessary
  • Support fellow counselors in creating an enriching experience that aligns with camp goals

Requirements

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
  • 1 year of prior experience working with children is required; this may include babysitting or daycare experience
  • Certification in first aid and CPR valid throughout the camp season (training will be provided during orientation week if needed)
  • Must be creative, adaptable, and willing to work positively with others, including co-counselors, NRT staff, parents, and campers.
  • Have a passion for outdoor education, environmental stewardship, or related fields such as special education or early childhood education
  • Must be able to work outdoors daily in all summer weather conditions
  • Lead hikes and activities on uneven ground and unimproved natural terrain
  • Attend four days of paid orientation, June 23-26, 2026, and up to seven (7) weeks during the camp season, June 29-August 14, 2026. (typical work hours are 8 AM-4 PM, Monday through Friday)
  • Must have reliable transportation; there is no public transportation access at the site

These positions are seasonal only and are non-benefited positions. Generally, the schedule is 40 hours/week, but may be adjusted, if necessary, due to enrollment or camp needs. All prospective staff will be required to undergo acceptable criminal (CORI) and sexual offender (SORI) background reporting, as required by state, local, and NRT policies.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
