Summer School Success 2026
Instructional Paraeducators
GENERAL STATEMENT:
The Summer School 2026 Instructional Paraeducator will aid the Summer School Teachers in all aspects of the summer school program. This position requires a commitment to work 4 weeks.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with individual students or small groups of students to provide tutoring in various subjects.

Assist in the distribution of papers, materials, and assignment sheets and assist in the handling of completed assignments.

Prepare copy for instructional materials, bulletins, and reports.

Assist in taking attendance and maintaining attendance records.

Maintain inventory records of equipment, books and instructional supplies used in the classroom.

Use copying equipment.

Assist in maintaining an environment conducive to learning as requested by the teacher.

Assist with discipline and other classroom duties as requested by the teacher.

Assist the teacher in supervising students on arrival to or departure from school and all transitional times.

Distribute meals as required.

Assist in hall and stairway supervision.

Escort students to other rooms/locations as required.

Attend staff development workshops to enhance instructional delivery to children.

Assist in other related duties that may be assigned by the teacher, Head Teacher or Summer School Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Must meet the current NCLB requirements for employment as a paraeducator.

Currently employed by the Stamford Public Schools.

Good Reading, Math, and English skills.
-
Ability to follow instructions and accept supervision.
-
Ability to work effectively with teachers, students and building staff.

Working knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows, Chrome); Productivity Software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Google Workspace - Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail; Adobe Acrobat); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams); Accounting Software (i.e. Oracle, QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, Power School, CT-SEDS); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.
Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.

SCHEDULE:

Prep Days: Wednesday 06/24/26 + Thursday 06/25/26

4 Week Program: Monday, 06/29/26 through Thursday, 07/23/26 (Monday - Thursday, 16 days)

Work Hours: 8:45 A.M. - 1:15 P.M.

COMPENSATION:
Per Paraeducator Contract.
