Supervising Accountant

SUPERVISING ACCOUNTANT

Essential Functions:
  • Manages a work team.
  • Has primary responsibility for standard, recurring, reversing, and adjusting journal entries for clients.
  • Maintains records of financial transactions by posting deposits/receipts, entering bills and credit card transactions, and processing payments to vendors.
  • Pursues necessary training to work with the G/L system and other software employed by the client and facilitates their direct reports’ pursuit of necessary training.
  • Reviews client chart of accounts and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Balances general ledger through timely reconciliations.
  • Maintains historical records by properly organizing and filing important documents and paperwork.
  • Generates financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Provides recommendations for process improvements and technology automations.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Monitors their billable time with each client and the billable time of each of their direct reports compared with the agreed-upon statement of work and discusses any discrepancies with their partner.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Support client through ad hoc conversations that may entail researching accounting specific transactions and situations.

  • Conscientious when handling detail-intensive tasks
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • CPA is a plus
  • 6+ years of previous bookkeeping experience
  • Management experience is a plus
  • Experience in working with multiple clients
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in a large G/L package such as Blackbaud or Sage Intacct preferred
