Why does the job exist?

The Supervisor, Social Services will:
Ensure programs operate with consistent application of federal and state polices, regulations and procedures;

Provide fiscal oversight and management of the FANS budget and contracts;

Monitor and ensure appropriates scopes of work and expenditures meet compliance standards set forth by federal and state regulations for TEFAP, CSFSP and SNAP Ed.

How does it get done?

The Supervisor, Social Services is responsible for:
Providing short term and long-term planning to create initiatives that further the FANS Bureaus and Departments overall goals;

Delegating tasks to employees best positioned to complete them and assist the team with prioritization of all tasks and empower staff to make educated and knowledgeable decisions;

Identifying areas of improvement and providing support for solutions;

Supporting effective communication and collaboration with internal and external customers/partners to ensure clear exchange of ideas and promote cross-team opportunities when recognized;

Overseeing of any research, assessment, and/or analysis of all federal, state, and grant budgets to ensure proper administration and compliance;

Making decisions and monitor progress of various projects to keep team on track;

Assisting with recruitment process to maintain the staffing for the FANS Bureau;

Providing direct support for program managers and the development of all staff;

Monitoring federal and state legislative activity;

Monitoring progress of meetings as well as outcomes of Action items;

Assisting in building and maintaining efficient and effective professional relationships with outside agencies as well as other states and federal partners.

Minimum Qualification

Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Ciminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and two (2) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Position requires in state and out of state travel.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
