About The Team And The Role
The Electronics Supplier Management team at Ather is responsible for designing and executing comprehensive sourcing strategies for electronic components and Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) to ensure cost competitiveness and supply security. This team manages the end-to-end lifecycle of electronic commodities, from cost structuring and industry benchmarking to risk mitigation and capacity alignment across the value chain.
This role is for a Supplier Manager who will drive the EMS category performance by meeting stringent cost, quality, supply and timeline targets. You will be responsible for sourcing E-components, identifying cost-down opportunities, managing Excess and Obsolete (E&O) inventory, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure engineering changes and production line setups at supplier facilities align with Ather’s standards.
Responsibilities

Design and execute long-term sourcing strategies for electronic components, establishing robust supply, cost and lead time structures.

Drive cost competitiveness through industry benchmarking, primary research, and identifying implementation-ready cost-down opportunities.

Manage financial impacts by tracking price fluctuations, Purchase Price Variance (PPV), and validating E&O inventory liquidation strategies.

Ensure supply continuity by tracking value chain capacity, communicating monthly requirements, and mitigating potential supply chain risks.

Oversee supplier adherence to engineering change notifications (ECN), price revisions, and obsolete management protocols.

Collaborate cross-functionally to support supplier audits (ISA/PPAP/Financial), should-cost modeling, and production line setups.

Provide market intelligence on component lead times and costs to refine the Component Engineering Framework and internal sourcing tools.

Monitor and improve supplier performance in coordination with Engineering, MQA, and Finance teams to ensure timely payment and quality compliance.

Monitor geopolitical, regulatory, and macroeconomic risks & lead crisis response and recovery

Map tier-1, tier-2, and tier-3 suppliers & Identify value leakage, bottlenecks, and dependency risks

Track on a regular basis on inventory at our end as well as supplier end to ensure the visibility of a seamless supply chain.

Monthly cadence with key semiconductor manufacturer & distributors

Involve & execute PPC (Annual Negotiation, etc) with respective suppliers in line with organizational requirements and strategy

Build and foster mutually beneficial relationships with strategic suppliers and protect business against unfavorable market trends
Experience And Qualifications

B.E / B.tech, preferably in electronics engineering

5- 8 years’ of work experience in a similar domain within an automotive OEM/Tier-1 Supplier organization.

Utilize advanced spend analysis techniques to drive strategic procurement decisions and identify cost levers.

Execute complex negotiation strategies to secure favorable commercial terms and long-term partnerships.

Perform comprehensive contract analysis and negotiation to mitigate legal and commercial risks.

Conduct detailed value chain mapping to identify inefficiencies and optimize the electronics supply base.

Apply zero-based costing methodologies to validate quotes and bridge gaps with should-cost reports.

Conduct thorough supplier scouting and evaluation to expand the global electronics supplier landscape.

Perform root cause analysis to resolve supply chain disruptions and supplier performance issues.

Implement APQP and PPAP frameworks to ensure supplier quality and manufacturing readiness.
