Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Mumbai, India
SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for Parts Quality and Supplier Process Development, to ensure RFT and long-term process capability of outsourced parts. This position needs to work as a bridge between Portescap and suppliers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Here are your key responsibilities:
  • Review and assess supplier processes.
  • Identify quality issues.
  • Maintain documentation and reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance.
  • Communicate with suppliers and senior management.
  • Ensure that products / processes supplied are managed in accordance with all specified product quality requirements and ensuring that timely and accurate information is made available to all affected parties.
  • Visit suppliers on a proactive & regular basis to report performance and review systems and perform on-site supplier process audits for all high impact suppliers.
  • Coordinate for deviation requests and ensure proper approvals and tracking of material under deviation.
  • Manage supplier corrective actions and timely 8D closures, ensuring a thorough root cause analysis is performed, to eliminate possible recurrence of defects.
  • Maintain supplier records in accordance with documented requirements & track supplier performance in accordance with defined guidelines.
  • Co-ordinate with suppliers to identify Root causes by 5 Why analysis & Counter measures, also understand Supplier yield progress.
  • Establish optimum supplier’s product / process efficiency and quality.
  • Manage supplier corrective actions and ensuring thorough root cause analysis is being performed to eliminate possible reoccurrence (Verification at the supplier sites should be considered for significant concerns)
  • Conduct detailed supplier APQP reviews using cross-functional teams for all outsourced products prior to approving PPAP.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities.
  • Support the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance.
  • Ensure compliance to RoHS, REACH and Conflict Minerals statutory requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate supplier Parts Per Million (PPM), supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators.
  • Lead quality audits.
  • Support and lead process improvement activities at the supplier.
  • Undertake special projects as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers.
  • Execute, monitor, review and improve supplier score card on regular basis.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Diploma (with Exp. of 10+ Yrs.) / BE (with experience of 7+ Yrs.)
Functional Competencies
  • Strong know-how of Machining, Stampings, Plastics and Electronics parts (knowledge of different commodities e.g., sheet metal, machining, adhesives, molding etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in part validation (PPAP) and Quality tools
  • Strong expertise in Process Development at Supplier
  • Ensure compliance to RoHS, REACH and Conflict Minerals statutory requirements.
  • Exposure to Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Working proficiency in usage of MS-Office Tools (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
  • Understand Engineering drawings and documents.
  • Well conversant with implementing standards & Quality Systems like DIN, ISO, TS16949, OSHAS
  • Working knowledge of ERP (Oracle / SAP etc.)

Internal: Incoming Quality & QA, Production, Engineering, Sourcing, Purchase & Stores
External: Suppliers
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluency in Verbal and written communication English & Hindi
