Supplier Quality Engineer - Mechanical Background

Job Summary:

Envision Technology, an innovative small business providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense applications, seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer with a strong mechanical background. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of products and services provided by external suppliers. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the high standards of our organization and mitigating risks associated with the supply chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of potential suppliers, including on-site audits, to evaluate their quality systems, manufacturing processes, and overall capabilities.
  • Analyze supplier performance data to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions regarding supplier selection and qualification.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify and implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers to improve their quality systems and processes.
  • Conduct training programs for suppliers on quality requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance through regular inspections, audits, and reviews of incoming materials.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues related to supplier-provided products or services.
  • Implement and maintain effective quality control systems for incoming materials, including receiving inspection, sampling plans, and testing procedures.
  • Identify and assess potential quality risks associated with the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate supply chain risks, such as supplier diversification and contingency planning.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve supplier quality and performance.
  • Drive process improvements within the supplier quality function to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all supplier quality activities, including audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain Supplier Scorecards.
  • Other production tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge, interpretation, and implementation of GD&T, preferred.
  • Experience with Interferometric experience, preferred.
  • Ability to move up to 25 pounds.
