The impact you’ll make

As a Supplier Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer at Lam, you'll make an impact in ensuring suppliers manufacturing processes and products meet quality standards by designing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance programs. You design methods for inspecting, testing, and evaluating production processes and finished products onsite at our global suppliers’ locations. By analyzing production data, you identify trends and partner with the supplier to resolve technical, quality and production challenges. Your expertise will help develop excellence in supplier product inputs supporting Lam's commitment to delivering high-quality and reliable products.

What you’ll do

This position will be based out of Bangalore, directly reporting to Supplier Quality Manager in India, and closely working with Supplier and Global stakeholders (Supply Chain, Product Group, Manufacturing). This individual would be responsible for managing and executing critical projects, continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and meet Quality metrics of Heaters, Showerhead, Pedestal and ESC commodity. Individual’s primary job responsibilities are listed below.

  • Managing assigned suppliers in Shower head/Pedestal/ Heater commodity to ensure expectations are met in terms of Quality and timeline.
  • Evaluate the impact of internal and external non-conformances and take a lead in problem solving activities, drive root cause and corrective actions with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Assist suppliers in preparing and implementing 8D (RCCA), First Article, Process of Record (like PPAP approach) and Problem Report (Supplier Deviations, Engineering queries) etc.
  • Drive supplier improvement through virtual assessment, manage scorecard, and support supplier qualification processes.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes and engage with suppliers to identify process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Engineering for business value enhancement opportunities.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in Mech/Prod/Automobile/industrial Engineering with 5 to 8 years
  • Hands-on experience in resolving Quality problems related to machined and fabricated parts with vast knowledge in manufacturing standards (welding, sheet metal, machining, Assembly) and proficient in various problem-solving tools (8D Problem solving, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, DOE etc.).
  • Basic understanding of CMM (Co-ordinate Measurement Machine) working, test report interpretation and strong ability to read assembly drawings, mechanical drawings, specification.
  • Ability to understand and measure various GD&T features, proven experience in establishing measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) at supplier end.
  • Well-versed with various machining processes (CNC Turning, VMC 3,4 and 5 axis Machines)
  • Deep understanding of QMS (Quality management systems) assessment at supplier end and experience in setting annual quality goals and executing to plan.
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) & presentation skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Working knowledge of metal part fabrication and assembly processes such brazing, welding etc.
  • Experience in handling suppliers from remote location.
  • Experience in working with SAP database or Other Database systems.
  • ASQ certified quality engineer certification or equivalent will be added advantage.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
