Job Description: Supply Chain Coordinator

Position Summary

The Supply Chain Coordinator is a hands-on role responsible for purchasing materials, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining accurate inventory levels to support production schedules. This position works closely with operations, engineering, and finance to ensure timely material availability, cost control, and supply chain efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing

  • Source and purchase steel, components, tooling, and indirect materials required for production.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers to achieve best total cost and value.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in quantity, cost, and delivery dates.
  • Maintain supplier records, contracts, and pricing within the ERP system.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through supplier consolidation or process improvements.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate records of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Conduct and reconcile cycle counts to ensure ERP (Global Shop) accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production to meet build schedules and customer requirements.
  • Track and report key metrics such as inventory turns, stock accuracy, and usage trends.
  • Proactively address material shortages, overages, and obsolescence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and finance teams to align purchasing and inventory plans with business objectives.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP tools (Global Shop) to manage purchasing, material planning, and reporting.
  • Support new projects and engineering changes through timely material coordination.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce cost or waste.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment (metal fabrication experience preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems; Global Shop experience a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
