Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Surgical Dental Assistant to join our dynamic and fast-paced dental team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, can think quickly on their feet, and adapts seamlessly in a high-energy clinical environment. You will play a critical role in supporting surgical procedures and ensuring a smooth, efficient, and comfortable experience for our patients.

You will assist with advanced treatments such as implant placements, extractions, and other complex procedures, where efficiency, anticipation, and rapid decision-making are essential. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in chairside assisting, infection control, and clinical documentation while making a meaningful impact on patient care. The ideal candidate is energetic, highly organized, proactive, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during surgical and advanced dental procedures in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
  • Anticipate the needs of the dentist and respond quickly to ensure procedures run efficiently
  • Maintain strict sterilization and infection control protocols to ensure a safe clinical environment
  • Take diagnostic images, including X-rays and 3D scans, to support treatment planning
  • Monitor patient vital signs and comfort throughout procedures, making quick adjustments as needed
  • Provide clear and compassionate pre- and post-operative instructions to patients
  • Support administrative functions such as scheduling, maintaining accurate medical records, and coordinating with front office staff

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and make quick, sound decisions
  • Strong multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail under pressure
  • Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Dentrix)
  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
  • Experience with dental imaging, including X-rays and 3D scanning technology
  • Skilled in chairside assisting, including four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Ability to assess and monitor patient vital signs during treatment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with dental staff and specialists
