Surgical Technology Program Clinical Coordinator/Instructor

The Surgical Technology Program Clinical Coordinator/Instructor provides classroom, lab, and clinical instruction while coordinating student clinical rotations. This role supports curriculum development, ensures compliance with program standards, maintains strong clinical partnerships, and mentors’ students to prepare them for successful careers as surgical technologists. This position reports to the Director of Surgical Technology.Direct Supervisory Responsibility: YES X NO

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the program of learning, adhering to the Programmatic Assessment Plan.Construct, administer, assess, and revise teaching aids and evaluation tools for student activities in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings as assigned.Assist in the development of standards for admission, progression, and graduation of students as directed.Evaluate and revise courses and the related syllabi, evaluation tools, resources, experiences, and the completion of the end of semester grades and reports as assigned.Maintain theoretical and clinical expertise in the assigned content areas and utilize current instructional methodologies in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.Supervise and/or coordinate the supervision of students in the clinical setting, adhering to the established clinical objectives and activities.Complete student evaluations utilizing the established evaluation criteria and time frame.Serve as a professional role model and resource person for students and clinical personnel.Plan for and complete student clinical rotation assignments and submit to the program director and appropriate clinical personnel as required.Counsel students experiencing academic difficulties and document the outcome.Maintain records of student progress, grades, attendance, and absences, adhering to the established policies.Participate in the development of the semester schedule and abide by the schedule as approved by the Surgical Technology Program Director and the Dean of Health Sciences for classroom, laboratory, clinical, and office hours.Serve as an active member of the department, division, and college, and serve on committees as assigned.Adhere to the established policies and procedures for reporting, requesting leave, etc.Maintain cooperative relationships with clinical agency personnel and participate in clinical agency activities as assigned.Maintain current agreements between the College and all clinical affiliates.Submit yearly documentation of continuing education activities sufficient to ensure current knowledge in the area of expertise and to meet state and/or national licensure/certification requirements.Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.Perform other duties as assigned.Note: The intent of this description is to provide a representative summary of the essential functions that will be required of positions given this title and should not be construed as a declaration of specific duties and responsibilities of any position. PROJECTED STARTING DATE: May 2026SALARY: Salary Schedule D1 ($55,109 - $123,547) based on 12 months and range from Associate to Doctorate). Salary Calculation: For all positions on all Salary Schedules, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule. Step placement is dependent upon the following: (a) all work experience in public education in Alabama and (b) all other full-time work experience outside of public education in Alabama that, in the sole judgment of the College, directly relates to the requirements of the position. The applicant selected for the position must provide written verification(s) of this work experience within the time provided herein if such experience is to be considered in determining their initial step place on the Salary Schedule.
