The New York Post Media Group is seeking a Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and Strategy to lead the expansion into California. This Los Angeles–based role, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, will be central to launching the California Post, developing its market presence, and driving growth through business development, strategic partnerships, advertising, events, and new franchise opportunities.


This role will be responsible for building the California Post’s commercial platform from the ground up, which includes creating innovative products, cultivating senior agency and client relationships, and partnering with stakeholders across Communications, Marketing, Post Studios (our in house advertising team), Ad Operations, Data, and Technology to deliver integrated solutions that strengthen our market position.


Responsibilities:


  • Act as the senior commercial partner to the Editor in Chief, supporting the launch and long-term growth of the California Post
  • Lead commercial strategy for California Post products, including advertising solutions, high-profile events, new franchise development, and emerging revenue streams such as subscriptions, consumer-paid content, licensing, and affiliate partnerships
  • Develop and execute go to market strategies that expand our brand presence across California, with a focus on long-term business development and market growth
  • Establish and manage senior level relationships with agencies and clients, positioning the California Post as a must-buy media partner in Los Angeles
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in communications, marketing, Post Studios, Ad Operations, Data, and Technology to deliver measurable results and innovative client solutions
  • Build and execute event strategies that create both editorial impact and commercial value
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and identify opportunities to expand into new categories and strengthen our market leadership
  • Represent the California Post through speaking engagements at key industry events, panels, and conferences, helping to elevate the brand’s visibility and authority.


Requirements:


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in publishing or media with a strong focus on commercial strategy, digital, video, or social sales
  • Proven ability to drive business development, launch new products and franchises, and establish a strong market presence in competitive environments
  • Deep senior level relationships with agencies and clients, with a demonstrated ability to leverage those networks to deliver revenue growth
  • Experience leading commercial strategy in collaboration with editorial, marketing, advertising, and operational teams
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills with the ability to influence at the highest levels
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding revenue targets and building sustainable client partnerships
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently while also building and managing a team as the business grows
  • Note: The New York Post Media Group adheres to an on-site work model.


    Salary Range: $275,000 - $325,000


    The stated salary range represents base compensation. In addition, this role is eligible for a performance-based incentive program, including a target annual bonus, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
