System Control Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking qualified and experienced System Control Engineers to support the safe, reliable, and secure operation of Qatar’s electricity generation and transmission network.

The role involves working in shift rotations within the National Control Center / Dispatch Centers and handling switching, commissioning, and system restoration activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, reliability, and security of electricity generation and transmission networks using SCADA systems.
• Supervise and support operations within the Grid Control Center and Dispatch Centers.
• Direct switching operations and provide instructions to field engineers for transmission network and primary substations commissioning.
• Issue Permit to Work (PTW), Sanction for Test (SFT), isolation and earthing certificates, and other safety documentation.
• Monitor DGCC / NCC control room activities and identify system faults.
• Take proactive decisions during faults and restore supply at the earliest in case of outages.
• Coordinate with various sections of the Electricity Control Systems Department.
• Prepare technical and statistical reports for management.
• Ensure full compliance with Kahramaa HSE regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering from a reputed university.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in a similar electric utility.
• At least 3+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in electricity control systems.
• Good knowledge of international standards and Kahramaa standards and practices.
• Hands-on experience in switching operations and commissioning of HV / EHV equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety rules in power system operations.
• Experience in substation commissioning and testing before, during, and after energizing.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and sound judgment.
• Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage).
• Computer literate with presentation skills.
• Ability to work in shift rotations.

Pay: From QAR15,000.00 per month
