Unit and team Overview

Infotainment platforms unit is responsible for developing, maintaining and deploying BMW infotainment platform. BMW infotainment platform is Linux (Yocto) based SW platform that provides common automotive functions used by multiple automotive ECUs. The unit is also responsible for cross-cutting concerns of the platform, like architecture, security, stability and performance. The platform is deployed into multiple infotainment domain ECUs, ranging from headunits and rear seat entertainment systems to telematics and audio ECUs.

To strengthen our team of system integration testing leads, we are looking for a system integration test lead.

As the System Integration Test Lead, you will operate as an individual contributor within an ECU software development project, taking ownership of the end-to-end system integration testing process. You will be supported by a dedicated team of test engineers and test automation developers to ensure thorough validation, seamless integration, and alignment with project quality targets.

Job Description

As the System Integration Test Lead for infotainment ECU software development, you will play a key role in validating the reliability, functionality, and performance of embedded systems within the vehicle's infotainment domain. You will coordinate a cross-functional team tasked with verifying the integration of software components delivered by internal development teams and external suppliers, ensuring alignment with automotive standards and program milestones.

In this role, you will define and implement the system integration test strategy, encompassing SYS.4 and relevant SWE.5 activities in accordance with ASPICE guidelines. Your leadership will drive comprehensive test coverage, promote automation practices, and ensure continuous monitoring of the system health of the Device Under Test (DUT), contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality infotainment ECU software releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead system integration and validation of automotive ECU software across various platforms and domains.
• Define and implement test strategies, plans, and procedures aligned with ASPICE and industry standards.
• Coordinate with software development, system engineering, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration and testing.
• Manage defect tracking, root cause analysis, and resolution in collaboration with development teams.
• Oversee test automation efforts and ensure continuous improvement of test coverage and efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior test engineers.
• Prepare and present validation reports, metrics, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Basic requirements and Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Business fluent English

Required Experience and Skills

• Several years of hands-on experience in software testing and test management, including test planning, execution, and defect management.
• Proven track record in leading system integration testing efforts across complex, multi-component environments.
• Strong understanding of test lifecycle management, including requirements analysis, test case design, and traceability.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools is a plus.
• Proficiency in defining and managing test environments, data setup, and configuration for integration testing.
• Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration with testing tools (e.g.,Github, Jenkins).
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for identifying integration issues early.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities to coordinate test teams, report progress, and escalate risks.
