Tax Examiner:

Job Purpose
To conduct detailed reviews of taxpayers’ financial statements and tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance with the Income Tax Law and its executive regulations in Qatar, and adherence to international best practices.
Key Responsibilities

Review and analyze financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and trial balance) and compare them with submitted tax returns to identify discrepancies and issues.

Conduct tax examinations and prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive technical audit reports.

Interpret financial records and accounting practices to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Supervise, plan, and document audit processes in line with professional standards.

Identify areas for improvement in audit and examination procedures, and recommend enhancements.

Stay updated with international best practices in tax examination and auditing.

Apply strong computer, administrative, verbal, and written communication skills in daily tasks.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent (Certified Accountant).

Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.

Advanced training in tax examination for large taxpayers is an advantage.

Specialized courses in auditing, taxation, and the use of accounting software applications.

Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or taxation.

Strong exposure to tax examination procedures, preferably in government or tax authority roles.

Job Purpose
To oversee, supervise, and lead tax audit and examination activities, ensuring compliance with Qatar’s Income Tax Law and international standards, while guiding and mentoring Tax Examiners.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the review and analysis of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and trial balance) and reconcile findings with tax returns.

Supervise, plan, and document tax audits, ensuring effective oversight of examiners’ work.

Provide technical expertise in interpreting financial records and tax practices.

Prepare and approve clear, concise, and comprehensive technical audit reports.

Identify risks, gaps, and areas of improvement in auditing procedures, and implement best practices.

Ensure alignment of audits with the Income Tax Law in Qatar and its executive regulations.

Stay informed of global best practices in tax auditing and compliance monitoring.

Guide, mentor, and train junior staff to enhance their auditing capabilities.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent (Certified Accountant).

Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, IFRS, or equivalent.

Advanced training in tax auditing for large taxpayers is highly desirable.

Specialized courses in taxation, auditing, and accounting systems.

Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in tax auditing and examination.

Proven track record of auditing both small and large taxpayers within tax authorities.

Demonstrated ability to manage audit teams and oversee complex tax audits.
