Job Summary
The W Tax Group, a tax resolution company founded in 2014 and headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, is seeking a full-time dedicated professional to provide year-round tax preparation for its clients, as well as assist with the resolution of tax balances and disputes with the federal and state governments.
Primary Duty
- Preparation of tax returns for individuals and small businesses, including income tax, payroll tax, and other tax-related documents (1099's, W2's, etc) as needed.
Related Duties
- Preparation of business setup documentation, including Articles of Incorporation, EIN assignment, and S Corporation Election paperwork.
- Preparation of business wind-down documentation, including preparation of final returns, Articles of Dissolution, and EIN deactivation.
- Familiarity with FBAR filing rules and regulations.
- Review and maintain tax collection forms and applications through our Jot Forms Builder.
- Forensic analysis of prior filed tax returns for potential amendment or reconsideration request to the federal and state governments.
- Preparation of financial statements such as profit and loss and balance sheets for tax preparation and/or tax resolution purposes.
- Client contact as needed to acquire necessary tax information, gain a better understanding of their tax situation, and formation of a complete and accurate financial picture for tax resolution purposes.
- Educate clients on tax obligations and compliance.
- Stay up to date on changes to federal tax codes and regulations, and provide training to other team members on any substantial changes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tax preparation for individuals and businesses.
- Prior experience in tax resolution or a similar role is preferred; active Enrolled Agent status is highly desirable.
- Active PTIN.
- Familiarity with Drake Tax Software is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to learn is important.
- Proficient in using Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and other relevant software.
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills are required for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
- Strong ethical principles and high level of professionalism.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
