This is an opportunity for professional who seeks to build a career in Tax Resolution, IRS administrative collections, tax controversy, and negotiation with tax authorities across multiple state agencies.
As a Tax Resolution Advocate at Lifeline Tax Solutions, you will serve as the primary case owner and authorized representative for individuals and businesses facing active IRS and state tax enforcement. Your role is to take cases from distress to final resolution, navigating compliance issues, enforcement actions, and complex financial circumstances with professionalism, urgency, and empathy.
We are looking for candidates who have some experience or a background in tax and seek to learn through hands-on experience independently managing tax resolution cases, including direct IRS and state negotiations or are willing to grow into the role.

Core Responsibilities
As a Tax Resolution Advocate, you will:
- Serve as primary advocate and authorized representative (POA) before the IRS and state tax agencies
- Independently manage tax resolution cases from intake through resolution
- Analyze IRS transcripts (IMF/BMF), financial statements, and compliance history
- Develop and execute resolution strategies including but not limited to, Installment Agreements (PPIA, Streamlined, Traditional, etc.), Offers in Compromise (OIC), and Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status
- You will learn to develop, draft, and deploy Penalty abatements (FTA, Reasonable Cause, and other grounds) effectively
- Conduct direct negotiations with IRS Automated Collection System (ACS), Revenue Officers, Appeals Officers, and state agencies
- Prepare and submit resolution proposals, appeals, and supporting documentation
- Manage active enforcement matters including liens, levies, wage garnishments, and passport certification issues
- Clearly communicate complex tax matters to clients with empathy, professionalism, and accountability
- Maintain proactive client communication across phone, email, SMS, and client portals while tracking deadlines and compliance requirements
Tax Resolution
We are looking for qualified candidates who either have a background in tax and want to learn or have independently performed most or all of the following:
- Held IRS Powers of Attorney and spoke directly with the IRS on behalf of clients
- Negotiated resolution outcomes with ACS and Revenue Officers
- Analyzed CSEDs, enforcement matters including liens, levies, wage garnishments, FPLP, and compliance gaps using IRS and state transcripts
- Prepared and submitted OICs, IAs, CNC requests, and penalty abatements
- Managed multiple active cases and competing deadlines with minimal oversight
Required Qualifications
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, or Attorney license in good standing
- Active PTIN
- Understanding of IRS collections, IRM guidance, and applicable IRC provisions
- Demonstrated ability to manage an active caseload independently
- High standard of accuracy, ethics, and client care
- Comfortable working in a technology-driven environment with modern tax software, client portals, and workflow systems
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on tax resolution experience as a primary advocate
- Payroll tax matters and Trust Fund Recovery Penalty (TFRP) cases
- Appeals and Collection Due Process (CDP) hearings
- State tax resolution experience
- Experience working with small business owners and pass-through entities
- History of handling complex cases involving multiple enforcement actions and deadlines

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $51,500 – $70,000 plus bonus opportunities commensurate with verified experience and advancement opportunities within a growing organization
